Fernweh Atlas
[editorial platform / next.js] 2026
A travel journal that treats the web like paper worth printing on: longform essays, set to a reading rhythm instead of a feed.

/brief
Longform that survives the feed
Fernweh Atlas publishes travel essays that take a quiet hour to read. The brief was to make the web edition feel like their print annual: no infinite scroll, no engagement traps, just typography and photography given room to breathe.
/build
A grid that behaves like a typesetter
We built the layout engine around a baseline grid: every image, pull quote and drop cap snaps to the same vertical rhythm, so pages compose themselves like spreads. The site renders fully static; the heaviest thing between a reader and a story is the photography, and that is art-directed per breakpoint.
